This position works closely with the Field Operations Manager, the Lead LiDAR Technician, and designated Trainers to collect accurate LiDAR data safely, on schedule, and in accordance with PLS procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to: Serve as Observer / Sensor Operator on field operations as designated by the Remote Pilot in Command, maintaining visual scan, sensor operation, and hazard call outs. Complete initial qualification on assigned aircraft and sensors and maintain flight currency in accordance with the PLS Training SOP. Prepare, stage, assemble, and tear down aircraft, LiDAR sensors, GNSS base stations, aerial targets, and field equipment for each deployment. Execute pre-flight and post-flight checklists and manage LiPo battery charging, storage, inspection, and safe handling. Retrieve field data, perform coverage and quality checks in Spatial Explorer, and upload datasets to LiDARMill under supervision. Perform pre-trip inspections of company vehicles and report equipment damage, wear, or shortages to the Field Operations Manager. Maintain accurate and timely records and documentation as required. Follow all applicable Company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and regulatory requirements. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
