About the Role The on-site Assistant Editor is the operational backbone of the post-production team, supporting projects from production through final delivery. You'll help prepare projects, organize assets, assist editors, and keep the post-production pipeline moving efficiently across both shoot days and post-production. Working closely with the other editors, you'll help deliver fast-paced, high-performing YouTube content at a high standard. This is an ideal role for someone looking to grow their editing, storytelling, and workflow skills inside a fast-moving creative environment. Who You Are Extremely organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Passionate about YouTube content and creator culture Comfortable working both on-set and in post-production environments Calm under pressure in fast-paced production settings Strong communicator and collaborative team player Curious about AI tools and workflow optimization Eager to grow creatively and technically as an editor Someone who takes pride in making the team more efficient What You'll Do Support the Editing Team Prepare and organize project files, footage, and timelines for editors Pull selects, string-outs, and assemblies from raw footage Source music, sound effects, graphics, memes, and supporting assets Assist with revisions, exports, captions, and deliverables Help maintain editing consistency and organization across projects Support Production On Set Be present on shoot days to support the post-production workflow in real time Log preferred takes, standout moments, continuity notes, and key story beats during filming Track pickups, reactions, improv moments, and editorial notes for faster edit assembly Communicate with producers and editors to flag strong moments or coverage gaps Help identify priority footage and story moments for quick turnaround edits Handle Media + Workflow Management Ingest, sync, organize, and back up footage during and after shoots Maintain organized project structures, drives, folders, and media libraries Track versions, notes, and project updates across multiple videos Flag missing assets, corrupted media, or technical issues quickly Help maintain efficient workflows and post-production systems Learn and apply AI tools/workflows that improve speed, organization, and creative efficiency Help identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and optimize team workflows Collaborate Across Teams Work closely with Lead Editors, Polish Editors, producers, and creative teams Communicate project status, blockers, and timelines clearly Help ensure deadlines are met across multiple projects simultaneously Respond quickly to feedback and changing priorities Continue Growing Creatively Learn YouTube pacing, retention strategies, and storytelling principles Study high-performing content and editing styles Take on increasingly creative editing responsibilities over time Continuously improve speed, technical ability, creative instincts, and workflow efficiency Preferred Skills Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro Basic familiarity with After Effects and Photoshop Strong organizational and media management skills Understanding of YouTube pacing and fast-paced editing styles Familiarity with ingesting, syncing, and organizing footage Interest in AI tools and emerging post-production workflows Strong communication and multitasking abilities Comfortable using Slack, Monday.com, Google Drive, and Google Suite Bonus Points Experience with creator-led or social-first content Familiarity with internet culture, memes, and viral editing styles Basic motion graphics or VFX skills Experience with on-set media management or DIT workflows Experience using AI tools to improve creative or post-production workflows Desire to grow into a full editor or polish editor role over time The expected base pay range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 per year. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
