  • Eastern Iowa Newspapers Our Eastern Iowa newspapers are seeking a Sports Editor to help lead coverage of high school and local sports across our communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to tell the stories of student-athletes, coaches, and teams while making a real impact in local journalism. Responsibilities include covering games and sporting events, writing game stories and feature articles, taking photos, developing relationships with coaches and athletic directors, and helping ensure our readers receive timely, accurate, and engaging sports coverage in both print and digital formats. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, enjoys working with people, and has a passion for local sports and storytelling. Strong writing and communication skills are important, along with the ability to work evenings and weekends during sports seasons as schedules require. Previous journalism, sports writing, photography, or media experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right person who has a strong work ethic, is eager to learn, and is committed to producing outstanding community journalism. This position offers the opportunity to become an important part of a growing newspaper company dedicated to strengthening local communities through quality journalism.
