Approximately 10-20 hours per week to start, with the potential for additional hours based on production needs. About the Role Matador Network is looking for a highly organized Technical Assistant Editor to support our post-production workflow. The primary focus of this role is managing media within our LucidLink environment, preparing projects for editors, maintaining organized project structures, and handling technical QC and final deliveries. This is a technical, workflow-focused position rather than a creative editing role. It's ideal for someone who enjoys building efficient systems, solving technical challenges, and keeping projects running smoothly behind the scenes. Because this role involves managing physical media, applicants must be based in or near Asheville, NC and be able to pick up and deliver hard drives from our Asheville office as needed. Responsibilities- Manage media within our LucidLink shared storage environment.
- Upload footage and maintain organized folder structures.
- Ingest, organize, sync, transcode, and prepare footage for editors.
- Generate and manage proxy workflows.
- Ensure projects follow established file naming conventions and organizational standards.
- Package and prepare Adobe Premiere Pro projects for editing, review, archive, and delivery.
- Relink media and troubleshoot project issues.
- Perform final exports for multiple platforms and delivery specifications.
- Conduct technical quality control (QC) on exported videos, checking video, audio, graphics, captions, formatting, and overall delivery quality.
- Create, review, and deliver SRT caption files when required.
- Maintain project archives and media backups.
- Assist with versioning, revisions, and delivery of final assets.
- Coordinate movement of hard drives and media between editors and the Asheville office.
- Help develop and improve post-production workflows as our team continues to scale. Qualifications
- Professional experience as an Assistant Editor or similar post-production role.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Experience with LucidLink is strongly preferred.
- Candidates without direct LucidLink experience should have experience with shared storage or cloud-based collaborative editing workflows and be comfortable learning new systems.
- Strong understanding of media management, codecs, proxies, export settings, and professional delivery workflows.
- Experience organizing large media libraries across multiple productions.
- Familiarity with professional file naming conventions and post-production best practices.
- Experience performing technical QC on final deliverables.
- Experience creating or reviewing SRT subtitle files is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and exceptional attention to detail. What We're Looking For
