Job Description
The Highlands Current, a nonprofit news organization thatcovers Philipstown and Beacon, New York, is seeking a full-time Digital/MultimediaEditor to join its newsroom.
Our mission is to be a trusted, independent andnonpartisan source of information on topics of importance to our HudsonHighlands communities. Through both our print edition, The Highlands Current,and our website, HighlandsCurrent.org, we seek to provide a vital forum for awide range of views and to reflect the diverse interests, concerns, andexperiences of our readers.
This role, working with the editor, student journalistsand the rest of the team, will support The Current in expanding its coverage toadapt its high-quality local journalism to reach digital audiences.
Suggest and schedule multimedia segments. Seek out short news stories through social media, onlineposts or press releases.
Report stories as assigned.
Report breaking news, leveraging editorial tools (e.g., emailalerts, social feeds) to alert readers.
Schedule and produce podcast episodes.
Update website guides, such as business directory andlocal officials.
Oversee schedule, curation and promotion of posts tosocial media

Responsibilities:
Work with reporters and other editors to create contentfor digital publishing, such as photos, videos and first-day stories. This maymean independently covering events to create content or accompanying areporter. Work with the editors to identify stories in developmentthat would lend themselves to reach digital readers (e.g., newsletters, socialposts, short videos). Work with reporters to create digital formats that makeour journalism more engaging online. Post online stories and photos using Wordpress.Suggest and schedule multimedia segments. Seek out short news stories through social media, onlineposts or press releases.
Report stories as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism1-5 years of experience, preferably in multiple formsSound news judgmentPassion for detail and getting it rightAbility to meet daily deadlinesPreferred Qualifications:
