We are locally owned and based in Idaho Falls with a dedicated team of journalists working to bring the best news coverage to our audience. We have over 210,000 followers on Facebook and more than 590,000 YouTube subscribers.
We don't want to brag, but we've received dozens of journalism awards - including a national Edward R. Murrow award. Our reporters' work is featured on other websites and television programs all the time.
Your Role at East Idaho NewsNow, here's what we want from you. We're seeking an innovative Deputy Managing Editor with strong news judgment and excellent writing, reporting, leadership, and communication skills. You will work from home on weekends and the other three days will be spent in our Idaho Falls newsroom editing stories, posting breaking news, working with reporters and focusing on other assignments.
We move fast at EastIdahoNews.com, so you'll need to be able to juggle multiple editing assignments while mentoring reporters. On weekends, you'll work independently, updating the website, posting breaking news, and looking for engaging content to share with our audience. It helps if you know WordPress, Adobe Suite programs, and basic video editing. You need to be active on social media and fun to work with. Job ResponsibilitiesEdit and oversee news articles for clarity, style, and adherence to journalistic standards.
Collaborate with reporters to develop story ideas and ensure comprehensive coverage of local events.
Fact-check to maintain the integrity and accuracy of all published content.
Post on social media channels to promote news stories and engage with the community.
Provide guidance on writing style and best practices to the editorial team.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
At least two years of experience in journalism or news editing roles.
Strong writing and copy editing skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication abilities for effective collaboration with team members.
Familiarity with social media management and digital content strategies is a plus.
