Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and passionate freelance journalist to join our team of storytellers dedicated to delivering compelling news and engaging content across multiple platforms. In this role, you will leverage your journalistic expertise, multimedia skills, and social media savvy to produce high-quality articles, videos, and digital content that inform, inspire, and connect with diverse audiences. This paid position is contractual and will be paid per game. Starting base pay per game will be discussed. Field test will be required prior to hire for this position. Duties Research, investigate, and develop news stories with accuracy and integrity, highlight scores and media. Write clear, concise, and engaging articles for online publication, ensuring factual correctness through diligent fact-checking. Produce compelling video content including news broadcast videography, editing footage for television or digital platforms, and creating engaging social media videos. Capture high-quality photographs that complement written stories or stand alone as visual journalism pieces. Manage social media platforms by creating and scheduling content, engaging with audiences, and increasing visibility through strategic communication. Edit and proofread content for clarity, consistency, and adherence to editorial guidelines before publication. Collaborate with editors and other team members to refine stories and ensure timely delivery of content across all channels. Qualifications Proven experience in journalism or digital journalism with a strong portfolio of published articles or multimedia projects. Excellent written communication skills with a keen eye for storytelling and detail. Proficiency in video editing software, videography techniques, and photo editing tools. Strong understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, or LinkedIn for content distribution and audience engagement. Knowledge of AP style guidelines combined with exceptional research skills to verify facts accurately. Ability to produce high-quality video content including news broadcast editing and video production workflows. Bilingual abilities are a plus for reaching diverse audiences effectively. Experience in television broadcast editing, content writing, copy editing, proofreading, and social media management is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines efficiently. Will work in a team to product content for Hampton Sports Network.
