An Editor reviews stories, reports or manuscripts, makes corrections, and works with writers to improve content and structure of writing. Plans and coordinates material to be included in publications. Works with print material or website content. May specialize in copy editing (careful review of text for errors) or other types of editing; may work as an executive editor with authority to approve publications and contracts.
Serving as a subject matter expert for the Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS), including initiating, routing, tracking, and closing executive taskers. Reviewing, revising, and formatting memos, reports, briefings, and letters to align with executive correspondence standards and required formatting guidance. Coordinating with action officers and originators across directorates to resolve ambiguities, strengthen content, and move packages through CATMS. Verifying Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), classification markings, enclosures, and references are properly applied and maintained within task packages. Supporting executive correspondence workflow management, permanent task record retention, and timely handling of urgent or time-sensitive actions. Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years' experience or Master's degree and 3+ years' experience. 5+ years of experience in professional editing, technical writing, or executive-level communications within a defense, military, or federal government environment. 2+ years of experience administering the Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS) or comparable Department of Defense or federal task routing software to initiate, route, track, and close executive taskers. 2+ years of experience reviewing and formatting memos, reports, briefings, and letters in accordance with military, defense, or federal correspondence standards. 2+ years of experience applying Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), classification markings, enclosures, and references to official document packages in accordance with security protocols.
Preferred:
Experience triaging urgent taskers and coordinating staffing actions across multiple directorates. Experience analyzing policies, processes, and program controls and recommending improvements. Experience with asset visibility initiatives within a Military Service organization. Experience supporting boards, committees, summits, and cross-functional engagements.
