The Technical Editor is the final editorial check for technical brochures, standard operating procedures, research reports, summaries, and related products. You'll work directly with engineers and developers, managing documents from outline through final publication. What You'll Do Edit science-based highway and surface transportation content for accuracy, clarity, structure, and agency style. Verify facts, references, data, copyright permissions, and the fit between narrative text, schematics, and tables. Translate engineering concepts, research methods, analyses, and findings into authoritative content for technical reviewers and the public. Apply the GPO Style Manual and manage multiple review cycles independently. Requirements 3-10 years of experience in technical writing, editing, or documentation. Expert command of grammar, technical editing, and complex document production. Highway or surface transportation experience preferred. Must be located in the DC Metro area Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass a Public Trust Clearance and Background Check Education Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related scientific or technical field.
