Editor - Lusk Herald Lusk, Wyoming The Lusk Herald is seeking an editor to lead its coverage of Lusk and Niobrara County. This position is ideal for someone who understands the importance of community journalism and enjoys telling the stories that matter to local readers. The editor will oversee the newspaper's editorial content, coordinate coverage with several established local stringers and ensure the Herald remains a reliable, visible presence in the community. This position has the potential to become a full-time role with regular office hours. There may also be an opportunity to earn additional income by assisting with advertising sales and developing relationships with local businesses. Responsibilities Plan and oversee the Herald's weekly editorial content Report and write local news, features and community stories Coordinate assignments and deadlines with local stringers Edit submitted stories for accuracy, clarity and newspaper style Attend important community meetings and events Take photographs to accompany local coverage Develop relationships with community leaders, organizations and residents Maintain an active and approachable presence in the Lusk community Identify the issues and stories that matter most to Niobrara County Work with the production team to meet weekly deadlines Assist with the newspaper's website and social media presence Potentially assist with advertising sales and local account development The Ideal Candidate The right candidate will be dependable, organized and comfortable managing multiple deadlines. Strong writing and communication skills are important, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate with contributors and other members of the 307 Media team. Newspaper experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to work with a motivated candidate who has strong writing skills, sound news judgment and a genuine interest in the Lusk community. Compensation and Position Details Starting pay for the full-time position is $35,000 to $38,000 annually , depending on experience. Additional earning opportunities may be available through advertising sales. The position will include regular office hours in Lusk, although its final structure may be tailored to the experience and strengths of the successful candidate.
