The Apparel business unit focuses on designing innovative, fashion-forward apparel collections that capture the essence of each brand's DNA while meeting market and consumer demands.
Position Summary:
The Senior Designer is responsible for leading the creative design and development of products within the Apparel division. This role combines strategic trend research, innovative design execution, and strong brand awareness to create collections that align with MAD Engine's creative vision and business goals. The Senior Designer collaborates closely with cross-functional partners, including Product Development, Merchandising, and Production, to ensure designs meet aesthetic, quality, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of seasonal apparel collections for the Apparel business unit. Research and interpret fashion, color, fabric, and silhouette trends to inspire innovative, on-brand designs. Develop creative concepts, mood boards, color palettes, and apparel direction for each season. Create detailed design sketches, technical flats, and artwork using Adobe Creative Suite. Collaborate with Product Development and Sourcing teams to ensure design intent and execution are aligned from concept through production. Review and approve garment samples, fabrications, washes, fits, and construction details to maintain design integrity and brand standards. Partner with licensors and brand managers to ensure all designs meet creative and contractual requirements. Manage multiple design projects and seasonal timelines simultaneously while maintaining a high level of creativity and attention to detail. Mentor and support junior designers and design assistants within the team. Participate in internal product reviews, presentations, and line showings. Maintain organized files, digital assets, and sample records to support efficient team workflows.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field required. 6+ years of experience in apparel design, preferably within branded or licensed environments. Strong understanding of fabrics, garment construction, fit, and apparel manufacturing processes. Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other design tools. Strong creative and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to balance trend innovation and commercial viability. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across creative, product, and business functions. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Experience designing for licensed, entertainment, or lifestyle brands is highly preferred.
Work Environment:
Office setting with regular collaboration across Design, Product Development, and Merchandising teams. Standard business hours, with flexibility during seasonal development and product review cycles. Hands-on role requiring engagement with garments, fabrics, fittings, and design reviews.
