$55 - 59 per hour We are seeking a Senior Product Designer on behalf of our entertainment and media client. This position is responsible for the end-to-end design lifecycle of licensed costumes, costume accessories, and softlines/molded goods from initial concept through final production. The role involves managing product approvals and collaborating with external licensees and internal cross-functional teams to maintain character execution and design standards. Must be commutable to Glendale, California. Contracted through 3/5/2027 with potential for extension.
Responsibilities:
Concept, design, sketch, prototype, create 2D graphics, perform 3D modeling, and deliver trend-right, consumer-centric product lines that feature market-leading innovation and exceptional price/value for each tier of the value pyramid. Execute product and licensed packaging approvals through online systems and collaborative approval meetings, ensuring rigorous quality standards in character execution, in-depth storytelling, color, material, form, and function while maximizing profitability. Develop and design product mock-ups, layout creative presentations, POV boards, Activation Kits, and retail pitch decks. Collaborate closely with internal partners (including Creative Design, Licensing, Commercialization, Global Product Design teams, BERGs, CBM, Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity, Integrated Retail, BPM, Public Affairs, and Cultural Consultants) and external partners to design and approve all products. Monitor competitors, product innovation, and rapidly changing market dynamics. Research and establish initial seasonal trends across assigned categories. Maintain end-to-end responsibility for product design and development from initial concept through final production stages. Lead and oversee product approvals including creative direction and revisions, providing clear, actionable, and detailed feedback to external licensees. Establish and nurture strategic relationships with licensees, vendors, and internal stakeholders, overseeing all creative aspects of product development. Assist in the seamless onboarding of new licensee partners.
Qualifications:
Experience:
4+ years of professional experience in costume, fashion, apparel, or consumer product design and development.
Category Knowledge:
Solid knowledge across hardlines and softlines categories, including raw materials, plastics, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition, and general manufacturing processes.
Prototyping & Production:
Deep expertise in product prototypes and a thorough understanding of the manufacturing lifecycle, sculpting, tooling, paint masters, materials, and internal mechanisms.
Design Execution:
Strong core product design skills, including 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application/manipulation of art, final mechanical art, and fabric/trim identification.
Specialized Technical Skills:
Hands-on experience and structural expertise in sewing, patternmaking, and costume/fashion design are highly appreciated.
Project Management:
Proven ability to multi-task and successfully prioritize multiple complex design projects within strict corporate deadlines.
Software Proficiency:
Advanced computer software skills, specifically with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office, and PowerPoint.
