This freelance opportunity is ideal for a creative professional who is eager to learn from experienced designers and contribute to the development of compelling, market-relevant collections within the fashion industry. About the Role Associate Designer Responsibilities Collaborate with the Senior Designer to develop and execute junior apparel collections aligned with seasonal concepts and creative direction. Create detailed tech packs, specifications, and supporting design documentation. Assist with garment fittings and prepare clear, accurate fit comments. Produce detailed CAD flats, original hand sketches, and presentation-ready design materials. Support sample development, tracking, and calendar management throughout the product lifecycle. Research trends, color, fabric, and competitive product to inform design concepts. Partner with cross-functional teams to help ensure milestones and deliverables are met on schedule. Qualifications Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline. Preferred Skills 2-3 years of apparel design experience, preferably within the juniors market. Strong understanding of apparel construction, fit, fabrics, color, and silhouette. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Ability to create accurate flat sketches by hand and digitally. Strong design aesthetic, color sense, conceptual thinking, and attention to detail. Collaborative, organized team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Pay range and compensation package Target salary range: $60,000-$75,000, depending on experience.
