JOB SUMMARY
Leading supplier of high-quality, design-driven fabrics seeking a motivated, collaborative Textile Designer to support the development of innovative print, pattern, and fabric designs. The ideal candidate will stay current on market trends, consumer preferences, color direction, and brand aesthetics while contributing to a wide range of creative and production-focused initiatives.
JOB PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Art Manager and/or Creative Director, this position assists in the creation, development, manipulation, and preparation of original, commissioned, licensed, and/or purchased artwork for textile and product applications. This role is responsible for print and pattern development, including creating colorways, scale variations, and repeat layouts from original artwork and design concepts. The Textile Designer works closely with the mill to ensure woven fabric and product artwork designs are accurately set up within internal systems, reviewed for quality, and prepared for production. This position also supports production readiness by coordinating with suppliers and mills, monitoring quality standards, and reviewing production reorders.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and organize the in-house library of print, pattern, and applied artwork for both the design and digital assets teams Assist in the creation, manipulation, recoloring, and preparation of artwork from a variety of sources, including original, commissioned, licensed, and purchased designs Interpret design concepts and prepare artwork development packages, including color specifications and standards for new collections; revise artwork as needed Research and identify market trends, color direction, and design opportunities relevant to the company's brands and product categories Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure deadlines are met for new product introductions and seasonal launches Create textile repeats, pattern layouts, and color separations for production-ready artwork Communicate with suppliers and manufacturing partners throughout the product development process, including engraving, strike-offs, pre-production approvals (PPs), top-of-production reviews (TOPs), and reorder approvals Review artwork and production samples for accuracy, quality, and adherence to design intent Work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment Present and communicate design concepts, trends, and artwork updates to internal stakeholders and external partners as needed
KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES, AND KEY BEHAVIOUR REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; InDesign experience is a plus Textile design experience, including fabric repeats, pattern development, and weave structures Strong graphic design and visual communication skills Understanding of color theory, print production processes, and textile manufacturing fundamentals Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Proactively jumps in to support team needs, regardless of role boundaries, with a team-first mindset
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS BS/BA
degree in Textile Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Surface Design, Fine Arts, or a related field 3-5 years of experience in textile design Technical knowledge of fabric construction, printing methods, and testing parameters preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign Knowledge of textile substrates, fabric constructions, manufacturing methods, and product development processes preferred Experience developing artwork for textile, home décor, apparel, or consumer products industries is a plus
