Job Description:
Nassau Community College invites applications for a Full-Time Instructor position. The successful candidate will teach courses including but not limited to courses within the Fashion Design Program of Study, plan and deliver curriculum in classrooms, laboratories and/or practicums ensuring that students acquire essential skill sets and objectives stated in departmental course outlines. Instruction should be meaningful and assessment-based so students may be observed and evaluated. Monitor the students' progress, keep grade records and must provide relevant assessment data to the department in a timely manner. Use appropriate terminology, and technology to communicate with students and provide academic support. Comply with College policies and procedures. Maintain a positive and professional learning environment for students.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and five (5) years experience in the field of Marketing, Retailing, Fashion Buying & Merchandising, Interior Design, or Fashion Design. In addition, specific courses will require additional requirements, including but not limited to, college level technical fashion design degree with four (4) semesters of draping, two (2) semesters of patternmaking, one (1) semester of garment construction (comparable in credits and content to the courses offered in NCC program); undergraduate or graduate fashion history, fashion art, and/or fashion design course(s); five (5) years of full-time fashion design mass market industry experience, including but not limited to draping, garment construction, pattern making and machinery/equipment; five (5) years of fashion industry technical design, fashion design industry experience; experience in hand drawing, computer aided fashion design software, technical flats, and/or tech pack techniques as demonstrated through the presentation of a portfolio of recent artistic work related to the specific course's curriculum, learning goals, and outcomes with the Chair; and/or current, relevant, first-hand knowledge of mass market design and production techniques as demonstrated through a portfolio review with Chair; All Faculty are also required to have experience with the College's current Learning Management, E-mail, and Video Conferencing Systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite of Products. Please note, all certifications/licenses must be current and valid, and all academic degrees/certificates must be from accredited U.S colleges/universities. All Faculty must meet the College's minimum qualifications to teach distance learning courses.
Additional Information:
In addition, the successful candidate will preferably have a Master's degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field, as well as experience teaching at a Community College.
