The Floral & Botanical Design Manager leads Cityscapes' Botanical Design team, with primary responsibility for people leadership, team development, workflow, and overall department performance. This role is ideal for an experienced manager with a professional background in floral, botanical, plant, event, or related creative design who enjoys developing people while remaining connected to the creative process. The Manager provides clear direction, coaching, and accountability to the design team while overseeing design quality, production, purchasing, sourcing, installations, and departmental priorities. This position works closely with Sales, Operations, Installation, and other Cityscapes teams to ensure projects are executed creatively, efficiently, and in line with client expectations. Direct commercial interiorscape experience is valuable but not required; experience leading a creative, floral, botanical, or production-focused team is strongly valued. Key ResponsibilitiesPeople & Team Leadership Lead, support, and develop the Botanical Design team through regular communication, coaching, feedback, and clear expectations. Provide day-to-day direction and help employees prioritize workload, projects, and production deadlines. Conduct regular team meetings and individual check-ins. Provide ongoing performance feedback and facilitate performance reviews. Address performance, communication, and team concerns promptly and professionally, partnering with HR when appropriate. Identify training and development needs and provide hands-on coaching and resources. Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team environment. Assess staffing and workload needs and make recommendations to leadership. Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new team members. Creative & Botanical Design Provide creative direction and hands-on design support across floral and botanical projects. Develop and review design concepts, mood boards, specifications, and planning frameworks. Oversee projects ranging from individual arrangements and displays to larger commercial botanical and floral installations. Maintain strong standards for design quality, consistency, and execution. Research emerging floral, botanical, biophilic, and design trends and identify opportunities to introduce new concepts. Support the team in troubleshooting design and installation challenges. Production, Purchasing & Operations Oversee floral and botanical sourcing, purchasing, production, and quality control. Manage relationships with vendors and source flowers, plants, containers, hard goods, and other design materials. Coordinate production schedules and resources to meet client and installation deadlines. Oversee event-related design, purchasing, production, and coordination. Monitor product quality, freshness, inventory needs, and design consistency. Support departmental budget planning, cost control, margin awareness, and forecasting. Maintain appropriate department processes, documentation, and systems. Cross-Functional & Client Collaboration Partner closely with Sales, Installation, Operations, Service, and other departments to move projects from concept through execution. Provide design expertise and recommendations during project planning. Help resolve project challenges while balancing creative vision, client expectations, timelines, and operational considerations. Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, vendors, employees, and internal partners. QualificationsRequired 5+ years of professional experience within floral design, botanical design, event design, plant design, creative production, or a closely related field. 3+ years of direct people-management experience, including responsibility for coaching, performance feedback, accountability, and employee development. Demonstrated experience leading a creative, design, production, or similarly project-driven team. Strong understanding of design principles and the ability to evaluate and guide high-quality creative work. Experience managing multiple projects, competing priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience with purchasing, sourcing, vendors, production, or related operational responsibilities. Strong communication, organization, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and provide clear direction to a team. Preferred Professional floral design experience and/or a strong understanding of floral materials, sourcing, production, and quality. Experience with botanical design, tropical plants, interiorscaping, or interior plant installations. Experience overseeing large-scale floral, botanical, event, or other design installations. Experience working in commercial or corporate client environments. Experience with budgets, cost control, forecasting, or margin management. Experience using NetSuite or another ERP, inventory, purchasing, or business-management system. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements This is an in-person position working across office, design/production, warehouse, and client-site environments. Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, kneel, push, and pull while supporting design and installation activities. Ability to safely lift and move floral, plant, container, and design materials consistent with the needs of the position. Ability to travel locally between Cityscapes facilities, vendors, and client locations as needed. Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail in an active, deadline-driven environment.

Pay:

$65,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
