Position Summary We are seeking a Candy & Floral Department Lead to provide exceptional customer service while leading the day-to-day operations of our Candy & Floral Department. This is a hands-on lead role responsible for supporting and guiding team members in daily customer service, sales, product preparation, and order fulfillment. The Department Lead helps set priorities, ensures customer orders are completed accurately and on time, maintains department standards, and serves as a knowledgeable resource for both customers and team members. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, customer-focused, and comfortable taking initiative. You should enjoy working with people, have strong attention to detail, and be able to balance serving customers with coordinating the needs of the department. Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Daily Operations Lead and support Candy & Floral team members during daily operations. Provide direction and guidance to team members regarding customer service, order fulfillment, merchandising, and department priorities. Help organize daily workflow and ensure customer orders and time-sensitive tasks are completed accurately and on schedule. Serve as a resource for team members by answering questions, providing product knowledge, and demonstrating proper procedures. Help maintain department standards for cleanliness, organization, product quality, and customer service. Communicate staffing, inventory, customer service, and operational concerns to management. Lead by example through a positive, professional, and customer-focused approach. Assist with training and onboarding new team members. Support management in achieving department sales and service goals. Perform additional duties as assigned to support front-end operations, enhance customer service, and ensure overall department efficiency. Customer Service & Sales Greet customers warmly and provide prompt, knowledgeable, and courteous assistance. Build strong relationships with customers to encourage loyalty and repeat business. Fulfill custom candy and floral orders accurately and efficiently. Receive customer orders by phone and provide confident, professional telephone service. Answer customer questions and provide product recommendations for candy, floral, coffee, gifts, plants, and specialty items. Assist customers with gift, floral, and coffee selections. Promote seasonal merchandise, holidays, special events, and other sales opportunities. Operate the cash register accurately and efficiently as needed. Fulfill balloon orders in a timely manner while following proper helium handling and safety procedures. Product Preparation & Order Fulfillment Coordinate and complete custom candy, floral, gift, and specialty orders. Measure, package, and label bulk candy and coffee accurately while minimizing waste. Prepare floral arrangements and assist customers with bouquet and plant selections. Prepare gift baskets, gift bags, floral arrangements, chocolates, and other specialty orders. Ensure special orders are completed accurately and ready for scheduled pickup or delivery. Monitor upcoming orders and help prioritize work to meet customer deadlines. Determine replenishment needs and assist with ordering bulk candy and coffee as directed. Merchandising & Department Maintenance Maintain attractive, well-stocked, and visually appealing displays throughout the Candy & Floral Department. Monitor product levels and communicate replenishment needs. Rotate stock and remove outdated or damaged merchandise. Maintain clean counters, cases, shelves, displays, and work areas. Perform routine plant and floral maintenance, including watering, trimming, and rotating plants for optimal presentation. Ensure department merchandise is properly priced, labeled, organized, and presented. Maintain a clean, inviting department that reflects the company's commitment to quality and customer service. Inventory & Safety Assist with inventory counts and report low, unavailable, damaged, or outdated products to management. Maintain strong knowledge of department products and their locations throughout the store. Follow all applicable food handling, sanitation, workplace safety, and department procedures. Follow proper procedures for handling floral products, plants, balloons, helium, and other department materials. Help minimize product waste and protect company inventory. What We're Looking For Previous retail, grocery, customer service, floral, specialty food, or related experience preferred. Previous experience leading, training, or guiding team members is strongly preferred. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong telephone and order-taking skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple customer orders and department responsibilities. Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable providing direction and support to fellow team members. Dependable, punctual, and willing to take initiative. Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player. Willingness to learn about candy, coffee, floral products, plants, gifts, balloons, and specialty orders. Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods and lifting, carrying, and moving merchandise as needed. Why Join Us? $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
