Longwood Gardens is seeking a part-time Floristry Associate to support the Floristry team in the execution of floral events and daily operations. This role is critical to the success of our floral installations and requires strength, attention to detail, and a proactive work ethic.
Specific responsibilities include:
Lifting, moving, and transporting heavy objects, including floral structures, containers, and event materials Supporting the event setup and breakdown, including evenings and weekends Supporting inventory gathering, staging, and organization for floral events and exhibitions Removing trash, recycling and compost, ensuring clean and sustainable workspaces Conducting general cleaning and maintenance of floristry work areas and storage spaces Assisting with floral processing, prep, and delivery, ensuring materials are ready and in optimal condition Returning and maintaining floral tools, containers, and supplies in an organized and accessible manner Maintaining clean, labeled, and well-organized inventory systems Work closely with the Floristry team to ensure timely and efficient support for all projects The ideal candidate will possess: The ability to safely and repeatedly lifting and carrying items up to 75 pounds The ability to stand for long periods of time in a physically demanding environment Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours based on event schedules Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with a team Experience in event support, inventory management, or facilities operations Knowledge of floral mechanics and sustainable design practices is a plus Experience with large-scale installations or exhibition work is a plus Familiarity with floral or horticultural environments is a plus Longwood Gardens is committed to nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment that celebrates the complexities and differences of all living things.
