Job Description

Please note we are open to both part-time and full-time designers.
ABOUT LA TERRE
La Terre is a thoughtfully curated flower shop and boutique known for its exquisite flower arrangements, fine goods, and warm, personalized service. Located in the heart of Foxtown, our shop is a destination that invites customers to experience joy through seasonal flowers, tabletop treasures, and hand-selected gifts. Originally founded in 2019, La Terre continues to grow under the leadership of Sally Vander Wyst, a seasoned flower designer and founder of Milwaukee Flower Co. Our mission is to invoke joy in all that we encounter. That means fostering meaningful customer connections, creating a welcoming environment, and offering elevated experiences rooted in intention.
ABOUT THE ROLE
La Terre is seeking 2 experienced flower designers. You will spend your days designing daily retail, online orders, subscriptions, custom work, and events. You will be trusted to produce quality work without it being checked. We're a fast-paced, high-volume shop that's growing year after year. Some days, 50 boxes of flowers show up before lunch, and the right person sees that and feels energized. You need to love the process, the mess, the rhythm, the problem-solving, and the long days around peak holidays. We keep the entire shop cross-trained, so you'll always have people around you. Your main role is to design and you'll also be part of a sleeves-rolled-up kind of team where everyone pitches in, and we'll ask you to know enough about the rest of the shop to jump in when it's needed. Above all, we are hiring for flower knowledge and skill. You understand flower varieties, seasonality, and how to care for the product. That expertise is the core of this job.
WHO YOU ARE
You're an experienced floral designer with a strong creative eye and a deep respect for what it takes to make beautiful work at scale. You work efficiently without sacrificing quality, and you can explain your choices around mechanics, color, and proportion to someone else. You understand that a well-designed arrangement also has to last, so you care for product properly and build pieces that hold up in transit and in a customer's home. You don't mind the long hours or the dirty buckets. You're excited by full coolers, tight turnarounds, and the puzzle of getting it all done. You keep your station clean, report a bad box of roses before it becomes a customer problem, and notice when the cooler is running thin without being told. You take real pride in consistency. A La Terre arrangement should look like a La Terre arrangement regardless of which designer made it.
