Job Description
- Key Responsibilities
- Artwork Production and Revisions
- Revise, resize, and update existing packaging, print, and marketing artwork according to approved creative direction.
- Implement copy, regulatory, legal, ingredient, specification, barcode, and design changes accurately.
- Adapt approved designs across product variants, sizes, formats, and SKUs while maintaining brand consistency.
- Review project briefs and source materials to confirm that all required information has been incorporated.
- Maintain organized, editable production files using proper layer structures, linked assets, naming conventions, and version control.
- Proofread artwork and verify details such as dimensions, product claims, copy, colors, barcodes, and placement before release.
- Packaging and Print Production
- Build and modify artwork using printer-supplied or vendor-approved dielines.
- Confirm artwork alignment with dielines, structural specifications, print areas, folds, cut lines, glue zones, and required clearances.
- Prepare production-ready files with the correct bleeds, crops, color profiles, separations, overprints, trapping, linked assets, and outlined fonts.
- Preflight files to identify and correct production issues before submission.
- Prepare and package final files according to printer, vendor, and internal requirements.
- Release approved artwork for print and confirm that the correct files and supporting assets have been delivered.
- Review digital and physical proofs, communicate required corrections, and prepare revised production files when needed.
- Coordinate with printers, packaging vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical file or production questions.
- Maintain accurate records of approved, released, revised, and archived artwork.
- Product Renders and Digital Asset Delivery
- Create polished final product renders and digital images from approved packaging artwork.
- Retouch, color-correct, composite, resize, and optimize product imagery for e-commerce, sales, presentations, and marketing use.
- Produce required image variations, including alternate views, product configurations, and channel-specific sizes.
- Ensure that digital assets accurately reflect the final approved packaging.
- Upload completed renders and final assets to designated asset-management or file-sharing platforms.
- Organize assets using established folder structures and naming conventions.
- Generate, verify, and release final asset links to e-commerce, sales, marketing, and other internal teams.
- Confirm that uploaded files are accessible, current, and formatted correctly for their intended use.
- Workflow and Quality Control
- Manage multiple projects, revisions, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Track projects from initial artwork revisions through final print release and digital asset delivery.
- Follow established approval workflows and ensure that files are not released before receiving required approvals.
- Perform thorough quality-control reviews at each stage of production.
- Communicate project status, file issues, missing information, and potential production risks clearly and promptly.
- Maintain current knowledge of print production, packaging, digital imaging, and design-production best practices.
- Use artificial intelligence tools, including ChatGPT, to support appropriate aspects of production, research, workflow efficiency, copy review, and problem-solving.
- Review and validate all AI-assisted output for accuracy, brand alignment, confidentiality, and compliance with company policies.
- Required Qualifications
- Three or more years of professional graphic design or production design experience, with a strong focus on print and packaging.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Strong understanding of packaging dielines, production file construction, and prepress requirements.
- Demonstrated experience preflighting, preparing, packaging, and releasing files for commercial print production.
- Working knowledge of CMYK and spot-color workflows, Pantone colors, bleeds, separations, overprints, trapping, image resolution, linked assets, and font management.
- Experience creating product renders, digital composites, and e-commerce-ready image assets.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence platforms, particularly ChatGPT, and the ability to use them effectively and responsibly within a professional workflow.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and file-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work efficiently across multiple deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to receive feedback, implement revisions accurately, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- A portfolio demonstrating print production, packaging, artwork adaptation, and production-ready file preparation.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, packaging design, or a related field.
- Experience working with consumer packaged goods, retail products, health and wellness products, beauty products, or other regulated product categories.
- Experience reviewing printer proofs and communicating directly with print and packaging vendors.
- Familiarity with digital asset management, project-management, proofing, and file-sharing platforms.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat's print-production and preflight tools.
- Knowledge of 3D rendering, packaging mockup, or visualization software.
- Familiarity with e-commerce image standards for major retailers and online marketplaces.
- Basic knowledge of photography, retouching, color correction, and image compositing.
