Job Description

We're looking for an experienced graphic designer who combines strong creative work with solid print production skills. If you enjoy building a thoughtful layout, solving a tricky file problem, and seeing your work become a finished product, you'll find plenty of variety here. About us Minuteman Press Rancho Cucamonga is a locally owned commercial print and signage shop serving businesses, schools, and organizations throughout the Inland Empire. Our work includes business printing, marketing materials, wide-format signage, and promotional products. You'll work with a small team and collaborate directly with the people producing your designs. Projects move quickly, and you'll often see your work go from screen to press to customer the same day. The role Your time will be split between original design and production preparation. One project might involve developing a logo or brochure from a customer brief; the next might involve repairing supplied artwork or preparing graphics for a window, vehicle, or building. You'll take projects from brief through proof, revisions, and final production files. You'll also communicate with customers to clarify requests and review changes, and coordinate with production to make sure the artwork fits the job. What you'll do Create original designs for business cards, brochures, flyers, banners, signs, and other printed materials. Build clear, polished layouts with strong typography, hierarchy, and attention to detail. Preflight and repair customer-supplied artwork, including issues with resolution, fonts, linked images, color, and dimensions. Prepare production files with correct bleed, safe areas, CMYK and spot colors, imposition, and PDF/X export settings. Set up wide-format artwork, including scale, tiling, contour cut paths, and allowances for finishing, lamination, and mounting. Create accurate proofs, manage revisions, and keep job files and versions organized. Check spelling, specifications, and consistency; flag missing information or production concerns before files move forward. What you'll bring Confident daily use of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. A portfolio showing original design work, strong typography, and effective layouts for print. Practical knowledge of print preparation and the ability to troubleshoot common file problems. The ability to manage several active jobs, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy as priorities change. Clear communication with customers and coworkers, and the ability to turn feedback into thoughtful revisions. Availability to work on-site in Rancho Cucamonga during the schedule listed above. Strong print fundamentals are essential. We can train you on wide-format specifics. Helpful additional experience Commercial printing, signage, or vehicle graphics. RIP software, color management, or production workflows. Variable data printing or direct mail setup. Pay and benefits $24-$35 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skills. Full-time, hourly position with overtime eligibility. Employer contributions toward medical, dental, and vision coverage. 401(k) with a 3% company contribution. Paid sick time and paid time off. How to apply Submit your resume and a portfolio link or PDF. Include at least three pieces you designed yourself. For collaborative projects, briefly identify your contribution. If available, include an example of artwork you prepared for print. During the interview, we'll ask you to walk us through your design decisions and how you prepared work for production. Finalists will complete a design and production exercise of approximately 2-3 hours , using a fictional client brief. We review every application.
