Location:

Employment Type:
Full-Time Pay:
$25.00-$32.00 per hour About Scantech Graphics Scantech Graphics is a San Diego-based large-format printing and graphics company with more than 30 years of experience producing high-quality graphics, signage, displays, environmental graphics, and custom print projects. We are looking for an experienced Preflight & Production Graphic Designer who understands how to take customer-supplied artwork and turn it into accurate, print-ready production files. This is not primarily a creative design position . The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and understands how artwork needs to be prepared for real-world production. Responsibilities Review incoming customer artwork for resolution, dimensions, bleed, fonts, color, image quality, and overall production readiness. Prepare and modify customer artwork to create accurate print-ready production files . Create customer proofs showing dimensions, scale, layout, finishing, and other important production details. Send proofs to customers and make revisions based on customer feedback. Verify that approved proofs match final production files before releasing jobs to production. Set up files for large-format printing, cutting, routing, mounting, laminating, and other finishing processes. Create bleeds, cut paths, contour-cut files, panel layouts, overlaps, and production marks as required. Scale artwork accurately for walls, windows, signs, displays, banners, and other large-format applications. Check supplied artwork for low-resolution images, missing fonts, incorrect dimensions, color concerns, transparency issues, and other potential production problems. Communicate with customers and internal team members when artwork does not meet production requirements. Work closely with project managers, print operators, CNC/cutting departments, and installers to ensure files are built correctly for the intended application. Maintain organized production files and follow established naming and workflow procedures. Help identify potential production issues before they reach the printer or fabrication floor . Qualifications 2+ years of experience in prepress, preflight, production design, large-format printing, signage, or a related graphics environment preferred. Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat . Excellent understanding of vector vs. raster artwork, resolution, bleed, color modes, fonts, transparencies, linked images, and PDF production. Ability to accurately work with measurements, dimensions, percentages, and scaled artwork. Experience creating cut paths and production files for digital finishing equipment is a plus. Familiarity with large-format RIP software and production workflows is a plus. Experience with Onyx, Fiery, Flexi, or similar production software is a plus. Strong attention to detail and the ability to catch problems before files enter production. Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities in a fast-paced production environment. Comfortable communicating directly with customers regarding proofs, revisions, and artwork requirements. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who understands that a file looking good on screen does not necessarily mean it is ready for production . The right person will be able to look at a customer's artwork, understand how the finished product is going to be manufactured, identify potential problems, and build the file correctly before it reaches production. Accuracy is extremely important in this position. This person serves as one of the final checkpoints between customer approval and manufacturing.
