Earlybird Branding Co. | Grand Rapids, MN Earlybird Branding Co. is looking for a creative, versatile Graphic Designer to join our team. And when we say creative, we mean it. We believe programs can be learned. Production processes can be taught. Technical skills can be developed. But true creativity comes from within. We're looking for someone who has that natural creative instinct. Someone who can start with an idea and turn it into something original. Someone who takes pride in their work, respects graphic design as a profession, and genuinely cares about creating good design. This is a professional graphic design position. It is not a crafting, template-based or "I know how to use Canva" position.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Creativity comes first.

You should also:

Have a strong eye for typography, composition, spacing and color Create original work rather than relying on templates Be able to jump between completely different design styles Take inspiration from reference artwork without simply copying it Have strong attention to detail and pride in your finished work Be comfortable receiving direct creative feedback and revisions Understand that you're designing for the customer, not just your own aesthetic Have experience with professional graphic design software Adobe Illustrator experience is required.

BEYOND THE DESIGN DESK

We're a small, hands on team, so while graphic design is the primary focus of this position, there will be times when you'll step away from the computer and jump in where needed. That could mean helping with heat pressing, embroidery or screen print prep, organizing and preparing orders, taking photos or videos of finished work, or helping keep the shop moving during busy production days. You don't need experience in all of those areas, we can teach the production side. We just want someone who is excited to be part of the whole process, from the first idea on a screen to seeing the finished product leave our shop.

THIS IS NOT A CRAFTING POSITION

Knowing Canva, Cricut, Silhouette or similar programs does not by itself qualify someone for this role. We're looking for someone who sees graphic design as a craft, discipline and career. A graphic design degree is welcomed, but not required. Your work matters more to us than the piece of paper.

PORTFOLIO REQUIRED A

portfolio of original design work is required to be considered. We want to see your creativity and your range. Show us branding. Show us typography. Show us apparel. Show us polished. Show us weird. Show us something completely different. Most importantly, show us that you can create something that didn't exist before you sat down. Please include your experience level with Adobe Illustrator specifically. Our designers may work on a clean corporate brand, a vintage apparel graphic, an athletic design and a completely different style all in the same day. How comfortable are you designing outside of your personal style? Graphic design is the primary focus of this position, but we're a small, hands-on team. When design work is caught up, this role may help with production, order preparation, content or other areas of the shop. Are you comfortable jumping in wherever needed?
