Position Overview The Graphic Designer / Art Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the art department while also providing hands on graphic design and production art support. This position plays a key role in ensuring artwork is accurate, production-ready, and completed on schedule. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience preparing artwork for screen printing and decorated apparel , including strong knowledge of color separations, pre-press requirements, and production processes. The Art Manager will work closely with our sales, production, and art teams to maintain quality standards, manage priorities, and ensure jobs move efficiently through the production process. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the daily workflow of the art and production art department. Create, modify, and prepare artwork for screen printing, embroidery, apparel, and promotional product applications. Prepare and review color separations and production-ready artwork for screen printing . Review artwork for accuracy, quality, color, sizing, placement, and production requirements before release. Schedule and prioritize artwork based on production deadlines and customer requirements. Assign and coordinate projects among members of the art team. Provide guidance, training, and feedback to graphic designers and production artists. Maintain consistent artwork and pre-press standards throughout the department. Troubleshoot artwork and production issues and develop practical solutions. Collaborate closely with sales and production teams to clarify artwork requirements and resolve questions before production. Help improve art department processes, organization, efficiency, and turnaround times. Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced production environment. Stay current with graphic design, decorated apparel, screen-printing, embroidery, and industry trends. Assist with special design projects and other art department responsibilities as needed. Skills & Qualifications Expert level Adobe Creative Suite skills , particularly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Strong graphic design and production art background. Advanced knowledge of color separations and artwork preparation for screen printing. Excellent understanding of vector artwork, raster graphics, color management, typography, and file preparation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to make sound decisions independently and resolve complex production or artwork challenges. Ability to lead, train, and support a team while maintaining accountability and productivity. Comfortable working with sales, customer service, production, and other departments. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred Experience Previous experience in a screen-printing, embroidery, decorated apparel, or promotional products production facility . Previous art department leadership or management experience. Hands on screen-printing production knowledge. Knowledge of embroidery artwork and digitizing requirements. Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
