Summary:

The Product Engineering Intern assists the product engineering team with various tasks to gain practical experience in the field of study.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Assists in hands on design of product improvements and cost reductions. Assists in determination and elimination of product quality issues, including placing material on engineering hold if needed. Assists in sustainable throughput improvements with reduction in scrap rate. Assists in the design projects to standardize Materials & Process. Assists in implementing and maintaining high quality documentation on processes and procedures. Assists in upkeep of technical documentation not limited to but including performance and dimensional data as well as part routing, part release, BOMs and technical manuals. Liaises with manufacturing on design manufacturability and cost optimization. Contributes to project planning and assists in smaller scale internal projects. Assists in design qualification and validation of products, materials, and vendors. Supports necessary experiments to test and validate product design. Supports and assists in the improvement of internal engineering practices, standard and procedures for the engineering tasks performed in the department. Assists in analyzing data producing clear, detailed reports for use across disciplines. Assists with input and maintenance of product data in company specific database. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Completion of junior level courses in Engineering. Proficient with 2D AutoCAD and 3D NX or SolidWorks parametric modeling software (latest release) Core knowledge of Mechanical fundamentals. Working Conditions /

Physical Requirements:

Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areas Must be able to lift 40 lbs. in a safe manner Clarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast and repetitious operation for an extended period of time Exposure to heavy equipment or components needed to produce product (safety toed shoes required) Exposure to chips and dust (eye protection required) Must be capable of maintaining a 40-hour workweek and working overtime as needed Must be able to perform repetitive motion.

Pay:

$22.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
