The ideal candidate is highly proficient in SolidWorks, understands practical engineering principles, and can take a product from vehicle scan to finished production drawings. This person should be comfortable working hands-on with vehicles, 3D scanning, developing CAD models from scan data, creating manufacturing-ready prints, and working with both domestic suppliers and our Mexico manufacturing facility to bring products to life. Experience in the off-road, automotive aftermarket, suspension, fabrication, or motorsports industries is strongly preferred. Experience designing portal axles or related drivetrain/suspension systems is a major plus, but not required. Responsibilities Design and develop new off-road products using SolidWorks. Create products such as bumpers, suspension components, brackets, armor, accessories, and other vehicle-mounted parts. Work from 3D scan data to design parts that fit accurately on real vehicles. Perform or assist with 3D scanning of vehicles and components. Create detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, prints, and BOMs for sourcing and production. Design parts for fabrication processes such as laser cutting, bending, welding, machining, fiberglass/composite integration, and assembly. Work with our production team, suppliers, and Mexico manufacturing facility to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective. Prototype, test fit, revise, and improve designs based on real-world feedback. Apply sound engineering judgment to ensure products are strong, functional, reliable, and appropriate for off-road use. Collaborate with ownership, R&D, production, and marketing teams to develop products that align with Turn Offroad's brand and performance standards. Requirements Strong proficiency in SolidWorks. Ability to create clean, organized, production-ready CAD models and drawings. Experience designing mechanical parts or assemblies for manufacturing. Working understanding of engineering principles, materials, tolerances, fitment, and structural design. Ability to work from 3D scan data and translate vehicle geometry into functional product designs. Ability to create detailed prints that can be used by suppliers or in-house production teams. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Comfortable working hands-on with vehicles, prototypes, and production samples. Must be able to work in person at our Riverside, CA location. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the off-road, automotive aftermarket, motorsports, suspension, or fabrication industries. Experience designing bumpers, suspension kits, armor, brackets, racks, or vehicle accessories. Experience with 3D scanning workflows and scan-to-CAD design. Experience designing parts for laser cutting, press brake bending, welding, CNC machining, or composite/fiberglass production. Portal axle, drivetrain, or advanced suspension design experience is a strong plus. Familiarity with manufacturing in Mexico or working with outside suppliers is a plus.
