With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, were now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.
Overview
The Elevate Edge Applications Team (EEAT) builds the software that sits closest to Jobys physical operations - charging infrastructure, maintenance tooling, configuration tracking, and operational intelligence.
As a Product Designer on EEAT, you will contribute to Jobys mission by designing the tools used daily by the people who charge, maintain, and operate our aircraft - making their work faster, safer, and more intuitive, while supporting the precision and traceability required for aerospace diligence.
You will work closely with product managers and engineers as a thought partner, delivering end-to-end design solutions across the near aircraft product surfaces and contributing across the full product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Design from research and discovery through wireframes, prototypes, and final specs
Translate complex technical workflows - charging, maintenance, configuration - into simple, elegant user experiences
Balance big-picture systems design with pixel-level attention to detail
Collaborate closely with PMs and engineers as a partner in shaping products
Conduct user research and usability testing with the operations, maintenance, and engineering teams who use these tools
Contribute to and maintain scalable design systems across the near aircraft applications
Rapidly prototype and test ideas to validate decisions early
Measure usability and adoption to drive continuous improvement
Leverage AI as part of your own design and prototyping workflows to accelerate delivery, and explore opportunities to incorporate AI into end-user solutions
Required
BA/BS in Design, HCI, or a comparable field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio of complex systems or enterprise tools
Strong skills in modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch)
Ability to simplify complex workflows through thoughtful interaction design
Experience conducting user research and usability testing
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven track record of driving projects from concept to launch in fast-paced environments
Experience leveraging AI tools/workflows to accelerate design and prototyping
Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams
Desired
Background in aviation, aerospace, or other regulated industries
Experience designing enterprise or operational systems
Familiarity working near hardware and with hardware-adjacent workflows
Experience in operations, transportation, automotive, or logistics environments
Ability to contribute to visual design and motion/interaction in addition to UX
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $120,200 - $191,100/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
