Job Summary:
The Automotive & Integration Engineer is responsible for improving the manufacturability, reliability, quality, and assembly efficiency of our vehicles, with a primary focus on vehicle systems integration. This hands-on role evaluates mechanical designs, electrical systems, harnessing, component mounting, hydraulics, and assembly sequences to develop engineering solutions that eliminate labor waste and manufacturing variation.
What You\'ll Do:
- Evaluate current vehicle designs using Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
- Spend significant time on the shop floor identifying assembly operations that are difficult, time-consuming, variable, or labor-intensive.
- Simplify and challenge existing designs by standardizing, modularizing, combining, or preassembling components.
- Optimize vehicle electrical architecture and harness designs to reduce wiring complexity and installation labor.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, suppliers, and production teams to increase component reliability and diagnostic serviceability.
- Represent the voice of manufacturing and assembly during formal design reviews and integrate feedback into new product builds.
- Implement Lean manufacturing principles, including standard work, point-of-use staging, Kanban replenishment, and mistake-proofing.
What We\'re Looking For:
- 2+ years of relevant engineering experience required (4+ years preferred).
- Strong background in automotive systems, mechanical design, or vehicle assembly environments.
- Proven proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, and CAD modeling software is a plus.
- Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts (Kanban, 6S, and Visual Management).
- Strong critical thinking and root-cause problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills to interface effectively between engineering and floor technicians.
- College degree or Trade School education required; degree in Mechatronics, Design, or Automotive Engineering preferred.
