Job Title:
Industrial Designer Job Description The industrial designer will be responsible for creating 3D designs from concept in SolidWorks. The role involves designing components that enhance product functionality and aesthetic appeal while ensuring cost-effectiveness and manufacturability. The designer will work on various parts/components like work bulkheads, tool safes, RV parts, and will also convert existing sheet metal parts into plastic parts. This position requires the ability to take a concept idea, design from scratch, and bring those designs to life. Responsibilities Develop concepts, assemblies, fittings, and fasteners. Use point cloud data and reverse engineering techniques to create accurate 3D models. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Marketing teams to innovate future designs. Translate concepts into detailed drawings and specifications. Manage expectations across departments, ensuring designs meet goals and customer expectations. Operate 3D scanners, printers, and other prototyping equipment to bring designs to life. Meet project deadlines with minimal design direction, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables. Essential Skills Industrial design experience. Proficiency in SolidWorks. Experience designing from concept. Familiarity with prototyping equipment (3D printers, 3D scanners, CNC machines). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Visualize. Thermoforming experience. Experience in tool design or manufacturing assembly. Work Environment The company manufactures durable and reliable thermoformed products primarily for the RV industry but is diversifying into other sectors such as industrial, aerospace, work trucks, and boats. The industrial designer will work under the Engineering Manager as part of a team of 7 engineers, collaborating closely with a sales team of 7 people. The role involves spending 80-85% of the time designing. The typical work week is 40 hours, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $40.86/hr.
