Full Job Description General Scope of Position:
Provide engineering expertise to support new part creation with improved quality, technology, and production output initiatives. Accountable for the design, fabrication, cost, and supply aspects associated with designated product lines.Core activities include the following:
working with sales on quoting and designing parts (generating CAD drawings, creating work instructions, and manufacturing operations), while insuring the customers' expectations, labor and material efficiencies are met. Work with operators and equipment for process improvement to meet or exceed production goals. The position will have direct input on product manufacturability, process flow, and material utilization. Travel may be required to facilitate training activities, project work, and customer support. It is expected that the travel requirements will be less than 10% of the time.Position Requirements:
A four-year technical degree in an Engineering discipline or Industrial Technology is required. 1-3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are mandatory. This position requires use of CAD, Microsoft Office applications, IBM Notes, Infor LN (ERP), and a Windows operating environment. Knowledge of industrial filtration, technical fabrics, sewing, slitting, and/or web converting is beneficial.Job Responsibilities:
- Create new parts and revise existing parts to customer specifications
- Enter routings and bill of materials (BOMs) in ERP system
- Ensure that existing routings and BOMs are updated and accurate
- Debug any issues involving fit, form, and/or function in the product
- Train Sefar personnel regarding manufacturing techniques
- Expected to (learn) know materials, manufacturing methods, tooling, and design requirements within the specific product lines
- Participate in continuous improvement to ensure lowest manufacturing cost, while maintaining or improving quality.
- Assist the Quality Department to investigate and correct customer complaints
- Conduct testing on new and existing products
- Perform technical support functions, both internally and externally
- Work with customers, sales, marketing, and/or engineers on product design
- Assist manufacturing with process optimization
- Perform product estimating functions to determine manufacturing costs
- Prepare internal documentation needed to convey project planning and/or design concepts, which includes:
- Maintain project ownership and manage project plan until a proper transition to manufacturing is complete
- Material yield estimates
- Bill of materials and design router
- Prepare design, tooling, and/or production drawings
- All other product details (special packaging, shipping costs, tooling etc.), which affect the cost estimate
- Understand, utilize, and improve Sefar policies and procedures as appropriate for completion of all related tasks.
- Assumes other assignments as directed by Management.
