4+ years Position Overview eShocan is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to support automotive powertrain and engine design/development activities in Ann Arbor, MI. What You'll Do Develop 3D models, 2D drawings, technical reports, instruction sheets, and other engineering design deliverables. Participate in routine Design Reviews and report key design metrics. Develop design countermeasures to achieve targets related to cost, mass, fatigue strength, quality, and performance . Work closely with drivetrain, vehicle design, engine design, purchasing, and assembly plant teams. Project manage North American suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of quality parts aligned with project milestones. Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve design quality and on-time delivery. Benchmark competitive designs to evaluate cost, performance, and customer expectations. Apply engineering standards, design processes, and GD&T principles throughout the development process. Support powertrain design and development activities across conventional, hybrid, and electrified powertrains. Travel locally approximately 10% and support overtime of approximately 20% as needed. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering . 4+ years of automotive design/development experience . Demonstrated CAD experience with strong knowledge of GD&T . Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint . Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong understanding of conventional, hybrid, and electrified powertrains. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude. Ability to support domestic and international travel. Valid driver's license and a motor vehicle record acceptable under company standards. Preferred Qualifications Extensive engine or internal combustion engine (ICE) design experience, particularly with intake and exhaust systems. Experience with Creo, WBDM , and powertrain CAE/design tools such as FEA, CFD, GT-Power , or similar. Hands-on experience with engine or powertrain assembly. Experience designing ICE peripheral systems, including: Lubrication systems Belt systems Timing chain covers Fuel systems Cooling systems Intake systems Exhaust systems Experience working with aluminum and iron castings, thermoplastics, stampings, and forgings . Strong understanding of GD&T and ICE/transmission manufacturing processes. Working knowledge of DRBFM . Understanding of Quality Management and Supply Chain Management principles. Experience working in multicultural and cross-functional engineering environments.
