It has to move with the swimmer, feel comfortable in the water and support performance, confidence and freedom of movement, whether someone is training, competing, learning or simply enjoying the swim.Key Purpose:
The Designer will create consumer-focused global swimwear designs that are innovative, performance-driven, brand-right, and commercially viable within assigned product categories. Working closely with Senior Designers and cross-functional partners, this role contributes to the design and development process from concept through commercialization, translating seasonal creative direction into compelling swim solutions that balance performance, fit, function, and aesthetic excellence.Primary Responsibilities:
Design & Product Creation- Design and develop seasonal swimwear products aligned with Speedo's global creative direction, product briefs, and brand DNA.
- Research consumer insights, trend, color, materials, competitive landscape, and innovation opportunities across swim and performance categories.
- Translate concepts into compelling product solutions through Ai, CADs, technical sketches, color, graphics, trims, and material application.
- Contribute to seasonal mood boards, trend presentations, storytelling, and concept development. Product Development & Execution
- Manage assigned styles from concept through commercialization while maintaining design intent throughout development.
- Create and maintain accurate technical design packages, technical sketches, and product information supporting development and BOM creation.
- Maintain PLM data, BOM accuracy, artwork, color information, trims, branding, and material updates throughout the development process.
- Support fit sessions, wear testing, and product reviews, providing recommendations that balance performance, aesthetics, construction, manufacturability, and cost. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product Development, Technical Design, Sourcing, Merchandising, Marketing, Print and Graphics and 3D teams to ensure seamless product execution.
- Communicate proactively across global teams to meet seasonal calendars and milestone deadlines.
- Collaborate with Design Team to ensure consistency across categories while contributing fresh ideas and creative solutions. Design Operations & Presentation
- Prepare presentations, seasonal design reviews, visual tools, and inspirational materials.
- Share and collaborate ideas, visions and other insights with shared teams.
- Present concepts, design rationale, and product updates to internal teams with clear visual storytelling and communication. Team Collaboration
- Support and collaborate with Junior Designers by sharing knowledge, providing guidance on day-to-day tasks, and contributing to a positive team environment.
- Demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and a continuous desire to expand technical and creative capabilities.
- Contribute to a collaborative, innovative, and consumer-focused design culture.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Apparel or Fashion Design (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5+ years of experience in swimwear, activewear, performance apparel, or related categories.
- Understanding of apparel construction, fit, materials, and product development (swimwear a plus).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Experience working with PLM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Ai and 3D design tools (CLO or similar) is a plus.
- Strong creative skills with the ability to interpret trends and consumer insights into commercially successful products.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects within global development calendars.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Passion for performance swimwear, innovation, and consumer-centered design.
