Mechanical Product Designer

Job Description

Purpose of Role Design and develop new marine products, components, and assemblies from concept through production. Support continuous improvement of existing products and manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings. Design marine glazing systems, aluminum extrusions, hardware, injection-molded parts, and sheet metal components. Generate and maintain BOMs, assembly drawings, and technical documentation. Manage engineering revisions and product change requests. Develop prototypes and validate designs prior to production. Coordinate with suppliers on tooling, manufacturability, materials, and production requirements. Work closely with production, purchasing, and management teams to support product launches and ongoing manufacturing. Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues and implement corrective improvements. Prepare technical files and documentation for suppliers, customers, and internal use. Desired Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Product Design, or related field. 3+ years of mechanical design/product development experience. Advanced 3D CAD proficiency (Rhino, SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360, or similar). Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM). Experience with engineering drawings, BOM management, and product documentation. Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience Marine, automotive, RV, aerospace, or custom manufacturing industries. Aluminum fabrication, CNC machining, injection molding, glass products, and sheet metal fabrication. Ideal Candidate A hands-on designer who can take products from concept to production while working effectively with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and customers.
Pay:
$24.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
