The Sr. Sustaining Engineer is responsible for product modification to meet company and customer needs. Perform routine duties and provide fundamental support of ongoing departmental activities.• Perform ECNs, drafting, documentation, and prototype construction. What Will You Do? Perform ECNs, drafting, documentation, and prototype construction. Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues related to existing Pinnacle products and systems. Collaborate with product development teams, manufacturing engineers and sustaining engineers to implement design changes, feature enhancements, and performance optimizations. Conduct thorough root cause analysis of product failures and provide strategic recommendations for improvement. Organize, develop and maintain the technical system for ECR's, ECN's, and VAVE processing. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability, maintainability, and supportability of existing Pinnacle products. Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance to engineering staff on sustaining engineering best practices. Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute technical expertise to support product roadmap planning and execution. Develop layouts and detailed drawings (flat, form, weld assemblies, etc.) using 3-D solid modeling software. Preparation of required documentation, such as bills of material, detailed drawings, component specifications, packaging, specification sheets, instruction sheets, and engineering change notices. Interface with vendors and buyers to assure best design utilizing purchased components. Develop product line extensions, enhancements, options, and accessories. Work on cost redesign initiatives for the BU (business units) and Sector. Other duties, as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, or a related technical field is preferred. Proven experience in a sustaining engineering role, preferably in the lighting sector.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Strong proficiency in troubleshooting and solving manufactured design issues. Demonstrates ability to "think out of the box" and have new design ideas. Proficient in Inventor and Solid Works or related. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external customers. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with a strong sense of accountability and initiative. Strong written and verbal English communication skills as required to discuss training, general direction and other position-related tasks. Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels. Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required. Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.
