We are currently working with a family-owned manufacturing company seeking a Design Engineer/Product Designer for their Madison, WI location. This is an opportunity to work on real-world projects from concept through production, where your designs will directly translate into finished products seen in retail environments. What's the role? We are looking for a practical, creative designer who can take ideas from concept to production-ready execution with minimal oversight. This role offers ownership of the full design lifecycle-from initial concept through modeling, documentation, and production handoff. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys seeing their work come to life and thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Translate customer needs into design concepts, from initial sketches to detailed models Create 3D models, technical drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) for production Manage design projects including file organization, version control, and documentation Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable Support process improvements and adoption of new tools Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and team workflows What experience and skills do I need to be successful? Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with Blender or other 3D modeling tools is a plus Ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings and BOMs Self-starter who can manage projects independently Strong organizational and file management skills Solid communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts ERP system experience (such as Odoo) is a plus 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, design, or fabrication environment preferred Recent technical graduates with strong portfolios are encouraged to apply, as well as candidates with hands-on fabrication or shop experience.

AutoCAD Blender (or similar 3D modeling software) Adobe Creative Suite (as needed) ERP systems (e.g., Odoo) Cloud-based file sharing tools
