An Industrial Designer designs products for companies and creates design ideas for products that are functional and visually appealing. Creates designs for product packaging or exhibits, or contributes graphic design work for industrial design projects. Creates new product designs or works to improve existing products, including consumer or industrial products.
Mueller Sports Medicine was established in 1960 by Curt Mueller to fill a need for quality products for use in athletic training rooms. Over the years, Mueller Sports Medicine has expanded to provide Quench Gum®, hinged kneed braces, No Glare® Strips, latex- and neoprene-free braces with the Hg80 Mueller Mercury line, Soccer Care® and Life Care for Her® product lines, and Mueller GreenTM. POSITION OVERVIEW
Internships usually begin the end of May through early September. Mueller Sports Medicine (MSM) looks for candidates that are academically strong with a passion for their field of study. MSM provides opportunities for internships in marketing, innovation, purchasing, logistics, information technology (IT), finance and accounting, or customer service. An intern can expect to virtually and/or in-person meet with associates, vendors, customers to explore future career opportunities. If the intern chooses to take the internship for credit, MSM is willing to accommodate any recordkeeping or evaluation requirements.
POSITION FUNCTIONS
• Percentage Position Functions 90% Innovation Complete an assigned project requiring planning, research, prototyping, evaluation, presentation of findings and recommendations to Executive team. Collaborate with industrial design, engineering, insights, marketing, purchasing and external vendors to successfully complete project. Help with activities surrounding the physical product deliverable during the ideation and explore phases of product development. Partner with engineering to complete CAD work to detail the design based on internal and external input. Present monthly status updates as part of our stage gate process. 10 % Administrative Perform administrative duties such as creation of design of experiments and consumer research, record keeping and documentation. NA Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization. Position Functions for this position consist of all items listed under any category that make up 5% or more of the position duties. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completed one year of post-high school education and enrolled for the fall semester at a technical college or four-year university. Pursuing a degree in a field of study related to the area of the internship. Have a grade point average sufficient to be considered in good academic standing. Ability to understand and comply with Mueller Safety Systems and current regulatory requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous work experience or internships in the field or a related field of the internship.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills; ability to stand or sit, bend or stoop, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate office equipment and read. The team member frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Position requires frequent typing. Position requires limited business travel, including operation of a motor vehicle.
