Job Title:
Licensed Interior Designer Job Description The Licensed Interior Designer is a collaborative, self-directed professional responsible for supporting the planning, design, coordination, and documentation of interior environments across all phases of a project. This role contributes to the successful delivery of projects through design ideation, technical execution, and cross-disciplinary coordination, with a focus on impactful work in multifamily, commercial, and institutional settings. Responsibilities Contribute to design ideation, development, and execution throughout all phases of interior design projects. Participate in regular project communications and coordination efforts with architects, designers, consultants, and other stakeholders. Create and refine design visualization materials, including presentation decks, renderings, and conceptual sketches, to clearly communicate design intent. Produce and coordinate complete technical drawing sets for all project phases, including Design Development, Construction Documents, permitting, and bidding. Conduct material research and support the selection of products, finishes, and materials, including preparation of specifications and finish schedules. Assist with the selection, coordination, and procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE). Collaborate closely with project team members to ensure design intent, quality, and technical accuracy are maintained throughout the project. Support and uphold documentation standards, organization, and consistency across all project deliverables. Apply strong Revit skills to develop accurate, coordinated, and constructible interior design documentation. Engage in mission-driven design work that supports the revitalization of urban spaces and promotes inclusive, sustainable development. Contribute to a culture of design excellence by participating in design reviews and sharing ideas that advance innovation and sustainability. Essential Skills Registered Interior Designer with a minimum of 4+ years of experience in the design industry, preferably with multifamily, commercial, or institutional building types. Proficiency in Revit, including experience producing construction documents and design development drawings. Strong experience in interior design across all project phases, from schematic design through construction. Ability to produce and coordinate comprehensive construction document sets for permitting and bidding. Experience with design development, schematic design, and construction documentation for interior environments. Proficiency in BlueBeam for document review, markups, and coordination. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt to industry-standard project management tools. Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and work both independently and collaboratively within a project team. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with commercial interior design, with housing or multifamily experience preferred. NCIDQ certification or progress toward NCIDQ is highly valued. Additional accreditations such as LEED, WELL, Passive House, or similar sustainability and wellness credentials are highly valued. Proficiency or familiarity with SketchUp for 3D modeling and conceptual design. Experience with AutoCAD for production and coordination of drawings. Experience with rendering tools such as Enscape to support design visualization. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite for presentations, graphics, and visual communication. Experience with project management tasks related to interior design projects is beneficial. Passion for design and engagement in extracurricular or industry-related activities, such as professional organizations, design competitions, or community design initiatives. Interest in innovation, adaptive reuse, and environmentally responsible design practices. Work Environment This role is based in a studio environment of approximately 12 employees, offering an in-office schedule that supports close collaboration and mentorship. You will work in a supportive, team-oriented setting that values diverse perspectives and encourages open communication and shared problem-solving. The studio focuses on mission-driven projects that revitalize urban spaces and promote inclusive, sustainable development, with opportunities to contribute to award-winning work in the surrounding region. The environment emphasizes design excellence, innovation, and sustainability, with frequent collaboration using tools such as Revit, BlueBeam, Microsoft Office, and a range of design and visualization software. The studio culture supports professional growth, including pursuing industry certifications and gaining hands-on experience across all phases of design and construction, within a professional office setting. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Washington, DC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $110000.00/yr.- Quarterly, merit-based profit-sharing bonuses. In recent years, our PMs have received an average of $10,000 per year in bonuses.
- Paid Time off: 3 weeks/yr (15 work days per 12 months of work). Up to 1 week of unused vacation may be rolled over to the next year.
- In addition, we close our office between 12/24 and 1/1.
Holidays:
7 holidays/year plus 1 floating holiday.- Continuing Education stipend: $250/yr.
