Lacquer Design, a residential interior design firm based in Pensacola, FL, is seeking a Junior Interior Designer to join our studio. This is a hands-on design role for an early-career designer who is technically capable, highly organized, detail-oriented, and excited to continue developing their skills through residential projects. Lacquer Design is a highly collaborative residential design studio with a team of three. We value thoughtful design, attention to detail, strong technical work, and a willingness to ask questions and contribute ideas. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of a project and see how design decisions move from concept through documentation and installation. The Junior Interior Designer will work alongside the Principal and Designer throughout the design process, with a particular focus on selections, sourcing, AutoCAD drawings, specifications, and design revisions. Responsibilities Design Development Source furniture, materials, fixtures, plumbing, and products appropriate to the project's design, dimensions, budget, and availability Develop and iterate on design ideas and selections Research and solve project-specific design and sourcing challenges Assist with developing cohesive material palettes, furniture selections, and finish schemes Drawings & Documentation Create and revise AutoCAD drawings, including floor plans, elevations, cabinetry drawings, lighting/electrical plans, and other project documentation Translate design direction and field information into accurate drawings Prepare and maintain schedules and other design documentation used on project sites Assist in preparing polished client presentation materials Project Support Participate in client meetings and presentations as appropriate Assist with site visits, field measurements, and documentation Help keep design deliverables, selections, and project information organized and current Follow projects through the design process and help ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately and on schedule Studio Participate in team meetings and internal project coordination Help maintain an organized and useful materials and sample library Assist with general studio organization and upkeep Share ideas, resources, and design knowledge with the team Qualifications Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience Proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to produce and revise accurate interior design drawings in a timely manner Strong understanding of residential interior design fundamentals, including space planning, scale, materials, finishes, furniture, and construction documentation Ability to read and understand architectural and construction drawings Strong sourcing and product-research skills Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate work Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work across multiple projects Clear written and verbal communication skills Receptive to feedback and able to incorporate direction thoughtfully and efficiently Takes initiative, asks thoughtful questions, and follows assignments through to completion Available to work 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, in our downtown Pensacola studio Preferred Skills Proficiency in SketchUp or comparable 3D modeling software Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or other presentation/design software Previous experience or internship with a residential interior design or architecture firm Experience with specifications, finish schedules, furniture plans, elevations, cabinetry drawings, or similar design documentation Familiarity with Studio Designer or similar interior design/project management software Familiarity with residential construction and working with contractors and trades How to Apply Please email your resume and portfolio or representative work samples to Studio@lacquerdesign.com .
