Job Description

Senior Kitchen & Bath Designer / Sales Consultant Nest Midwest LLC (Cabinets Plus) | Palatine, IL | In Person (travel to client homes required) $85,000 - $115,000+ per year | Base + Uncapped Commission About the Role We're a well-established kitchen and bath design and installation firm serving the northwest Chicago suburbs since 1962. Under new ownership, the business is entering a focused period of growth. We're hiring a senior designer to take over following the planned retirement of one of our top performers. You'll work alongside an experienced team that includes a project coordinator, showroom administrator, and technical illustrator, so you can focus on what you do best: building client relationships and closing. This is a role for someone who understands materials and aesthetics, listens well, and knows how to guide a homeowner from an idea to a signed contract.
What You'll Do:
Client Development & Sales Cover the showroom floor on a rotating schedule, serving walk-in clients and scheduled appointments Follow up consistently on leads, open quotes, and prospects to keep deals moving Conduct in-home consultations: take measurements, understand the space, and get a clear picture of the client's vision and budget Present proposals, work through revisions, and guide clients to a decision Manage your own pipeline from first contact through signed contract Build lasting relationships; a significant share of our business comes from repeat clients and referrals Design & Technical Work Develop design concepts and material selections that balance the client's aesthetic and budget Produce hand drawings and detailed specifications; our in-house illustrator handles technical renderings and perspectives Work fluently with cabinets, countertops, hardware, and fixtures across a range of styles and price points Stay current on product lines, finishes, and industry trends Prepare purchase orders for contracted jobs Process & Collaboration Hand off signed projects cleanly to our project coordinator, who owns scheduling and client communication through installation Share ideas for improving how we work, especially anything that gets you in front of clients faster and reduces time on paperwork
Who We're Looking For:
5+ years of experience in kitchen and bath design and sales (minimum of 3 years required) A genuine track record of closing: you can walk us through projects you sold and what it took to get there Deep product knowledge across cabinetry, countertops, hardware, and fixtures Strong in-home consultation skills: measurements, space assessment, and the ability to translate a client's vision into a real design Consultative selling style: you listen, build trust, and know how to move people toward a decision without pressure Organized and reliable; you manage your own pipeline and follow through consistently Strong Pluses Proficiency in Chief Architect, or similar software Comfortable working with clients who come in with AI-generated concepts or their own ideas; you can take that input and translate it into real specifications Interest in improving how things work, not just executing the current process The Support You'll Have You'll have a full team behind you: administration, technical illustration, and project coordination. Your time stays focused on clients. Compensation & Benefits Compensation is base plus commission on gross profit. Realistic earnings for a strong performer are $85,000-$115,000+. There is no cap, and we're looking for someone who wants to test that. That upside is real and achievable. Health insurance Dental insurance Employee discount at showroom (trade prices) Flexible schedule - showroom is open Saturdays on a rotational basis Standard schedule: Monday-Friday, 9-5 (some flexibility) Paid time off Paid training Why This Role? Established lead flow through SEO and a strong repeat and referral base, so you're not starting from zero A full support team means more of your time goes toward selling, not administration New ownership with a clear growth plan and genuine appetite to invest in the business Commission is uncapped - your income ceiling is yours to set To Apply We'd like to see a resume, and we'll ask candidates to walk us through a project they recently closed: what the client wanted, how the design came together, and how they got to a signed contract. That conversation tells us more than a resume.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
Benefits:
Dental insurance Employee discount Flexible schedule Fuel reimbursement Health insurance Mileage reimbursement Paid time off Paid training Application Question(s): What was your total annual revenue sold last year? A client loves your design but says your price is 20% higher than a competitor. What do you do?
Experience:
kitchen and bath design: 3 years (Required)
Work Location:
In person
