09/16/2026 Job Description Job Description Viking is seeking a designer or draftsperson to join our team. Job responsibilities include designs of homes, Garages, barns or additions for new or existing construction. Required experience in CAD and Softplan and experience in methods of construction and building concepts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Projects for customers Respond to customer requests, explains products and features. Prepares quote of building materials from design software Identifies material requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, and specifications. Provides displays, brochures, and other point-of-sale information to customer. Maintains a clean work and store environment Attends and participates in all company-sponsored training programs as required. Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE
5 or more years in Lumber and Building material industry and experience with CAD software, specifically Soft Plan
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Ability to read and interpret blueprints & documents Ability to use point of sale and estimating software Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and self-manage daily activities Ability to speak & write correspondence effectively to customers. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Skill and accuracy with take-off quantities of materials from construction drawings/blueprints Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Good interpersonal, communication, sales and Customer Service skills. Knowledge of building materials and products Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand and sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Manual dexterity. Ability to talk and hear.
THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION
Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00pm Some Saturdays maybe required based on customer needs 40-45
