Kitchen & Interior Design SpecialistAbout Us We are a locally owned lumberyard and home center serving contractors, homeowners, and our community. With a team-focused environment, we pride ourselves on excellent customer service, reliable operations, and long-term relationships. We are looking for an experienced Kitchen & Interior Design Specialist to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, has a strong eye for design, and can take a project from the initial idea through product selection, ordering, and completion. Kitchen design experience is highly preferred. Experience with cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting, or other residential building products is a strong advantage. Job Summary The Kitchen & Interior Design Specialist will work directly with homeowners, contractors, and our sales team to help customers select products and develop interior spaces that are both beautiful and functional. This is a hands-on position requiring excellent customer service, strong attention to detail, organization, and a high sense of urgency . The right person will be able to manage multiple projects at different stages while ensuring that details, measurements, selections, pricing, orders, and deadlines are handled accurately. Experience is necessary. We are looking for someone who can bring existing knowledge and experience to the position rather than someone we need to train from the ground up. Responsibilities Meet with customers to understand their needs, style, budget, and project goals Design kitchens and other interior spaces based on customer requirements Assist customers with cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tile, paint, doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, and other interior selections Create layouts, product selections, and design recommendations Prepare accurate quotes and assist with pricing and product comparisons Take accurate measurements and verify project details Coordinate product selections and orders with vendors and internal staff Follow projects from initial design through ordering and delivery Monitor special orders and lead times and communicate delays or changes to customers Maintain detailed project records and customer information Coordinate with contractors, installers, vendors, and other members of our team Communicate clearly with customers regarding selections, pricing, timelines, and changes Help customers make decisions and keep projects moving forward Follow up with customers on outstanding decisions, quotes, orders, and project details Identify opportunities to recommend additional products that improve the customer's project Maintain an organized design area and accurate samples, catalogs, and product information Stay current on products, design trends, and manufacturer offerings Provide exceptional customer service throughout the entire project What We Are Looking For Previous interior design, kitchen design, cabinetry, or related experience is required Kitchen design experience strongly preferred Experience working with residential construction or building materials is a significant advantage Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build strong relationships Impeccable attention to detail Strong organizational and follow-through skills A strong sense of urgency and ability to keep projects moving Ability to manage multiple customers and projects simultaneously Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to understand measurements, dimensions, layouts, and construction details Comfortable working with computers and design/order software Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player Professional, dependable, and self-motivated Positive attitude and willingness to take ownership of projects Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
