Job Description
Position Summary The Interior Designer owns complete Interior Design (ID) Sets for assigned hospitality projects, from intake and brand-standards review through client and brand approval and handover to Procurement. The ID Set is the deliverable the brand approves, the client signs off on, and Estimating, Procurement, and Logistics rely on to price, source, and install every item in the property. JM Hospitality Solutions provides interior design, procurement, and manufacturing under one roof, so documentation accuracy carries directly into purchasing and production: specification and tagging errors surface downstream as change orders, substitutions, or manufacturing defects. This role is accountable for sets that are complete, buildable, and brand-compliant on first submission. Key Responsibilities Manage assigned projects through all five phases of the JMHS design process: intake and PIP review, concept and schematic design, design development, package review, and brand submittal Develop the Revit model and produce the complete ID drawing set: space planning, furniture layout plans, reflected ceiling plans, flooring and finish plans, elevations, and millwork sheets Maintain the room matrix, FF&E schedules, and specification book in Design Spec in support of Estimating and Procurement Present design intent to clients and manage projects through client approval milestones Prepare and submit design packages to brand portals — Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, Choice, Hyatt, and Best Western — and track reviews through to approval Lead value engineering efforts, identifying alternates that meet cost objectives while preserving design intent and brand compliance Clear internal QA/QC review gates and complete handover of the approved set, samples, and binder to Procurement Provide design direction and review support to junior designers on shared projects. Process and Standards All projects follow the JMHS ID Set standard operating procedure, which defines deliverables and approval gates at each phase: client approval of design intent prior to design development, written client approval of FF&E selections prior to package finalization, and two internal QA/QC reviews — one for accuracy and brand compliance, one for constructability and value engineering — prior to client submission. Standard production windows are six to eight weeks for a Soft PIP set, eight to ten weeks for a Full PIP, and twelve or more for custom projects, scheduled backward from the submittal deadline with time allocated for client review cycles. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field; CIDA-accredited program preferred Hospitality interior design experience, including familiarity with major hotel brand standards and submittal formats Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD sufficient to produce complete, buildable drawing sets Experience with Design Spec or an equivalent specification platform Working knowledge of applicable building codes, life safety, and accessibility requirements Specification discipline: consistent tags, dimensions, and quantities across drawings, room matrix, and specification book Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects against fixed submittal deadlines Professional client-facing presence; ability to present and support design decisions Proficiency in Canva and Microsoft Office; SketchUp, 3DS Max, or Mattoboard a plus Preferred Qualifications NCIDQ certification, or eligibility and intent to sit; candidates without NCIDQ may be considered under an alternate title depending on scope Record of design packages clearing brand review with minimal revision cycles Value engineering judgment, including familiarity with substitutions acceptable under specific brand standards.
