A Day in the Life of the Senior Interior Designer This is more than an opportunity to lead great design. It's an opportunity to help shape what comes next. As the Senior Interior Designer, you'll have real ownership over the creative direction of corporate workplace and commercial interior design projects, taking ideas from initial concept and space planning through design development, construction documentation, and final handover. You'll stay close to the work, developing design solutions, leading live projects, and mentoring a growing team of designers. You'll also be a key design voice in front of clients, building relationships, presenting concepts, and confidently bringing them along in the creative vision. Responsibilities Include:
Design Leadership:
Lead the creative vision for a diverse portfolio of commercial interior design, corporate workplace, and interior architecture projects , establishing design concepts, space planning strategies, material narratives, and inspiring workplace environments.
Client Relationship Management:
Serve as the primary design voice and trusted advisor to corporate clients. Lead client presentations, build strong relationships, and translate business objectives, workplace needs, and brand identity into compelling physical spaces.
Team Mentorship:
Guide, inspire, and elevate junior and intermediate interior designers , fostering creative curiosity, technical growth, and consistently high design standards while remaining hands-on with your own projects.
End-to-End Project Execution:
Lead workplace design projects from concept and space planning through design development (DD), construction documentation (CD), construction, and final handover , collaborating closely with technical teams, contractors, and external engineering consultants.
FF&E, Materials & Detail:
Drive the selection and specification of FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment), commercial furniture, finishes, color palettes, materials, and custom detailing to bring each workplace design concept to life.
Studio Growth & Impact:
Partner directly with studio leadership to elevate design methodologies, contribute to select business development opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and help shape the creative direction and continued growth of the studio.
Sustainable Workplace Design:
Incorporate sustainable design practices, workplace wellness principles, and forward-thinking materials to create corporate environments that are as functional and high-performing as they are visually compelling.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field 8-10 years of professional interior design experience 5+ years specifically in commercial workplace design Advanced proficiency with Revit Experience with AutoCAD, Enscape, SketchUp, and Bluebeam Strong understanding of space planning, interior architecture, design development, and construction documentation Ability to work onsite in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey (Within 45 min. commuting distance or willing to relocate without assistance) About the Workplace Design Firm Our client is an architectural design-build and workplace design firm creating innovative corporate environments from initial vision through completed space.
