Job Description
The Senior Commercial Interior Designer plays a key role in creating thoughtful, people-centered commercial environments that reflect our clients' goals, culture, and vision. This role leads projects through multiple phases of the design process, from discovery and concept development through specification, documentation, and installation through close collaboration with clients, internal teams, manufacturers, and project partners. This is a senior-level position for an experienced designer who brings strong design judgment, technical expertise, confidence in client relationships, and the ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish. The Senior Interior Designer is also a resource and mentor to other members of the design team, sharing knowledge, elevating the quality of our work, and helping create a collaborative environment where great ideas can take shape.

- Lead commercial interior design projects through all phases of the design process, including client discovery, programming, space planning, concept development, design documentation, specification, and project coordination.
- Translate client needs, organizational goals, workplace strategies, and project requirements into thoughtful, functional, and compelling design solutions.
- Serve as a trusted design partner to clients, confidently presenting concepts, recommendations, and solutions while building strong, long-term relationships.
- Develop and produce accurate design documentation, including floor plans, elevations, finish plans, furniture plans, specifications, and 3D visualizations.
- Lead the selection and specification of furniture, materials, finishes, and other design elements, balancing aesthetics, functionality, budget, availability, and project requirements.
- Coordinate design details with internal project teams, manufacturers, vendors, architects, contractors, and other project partners to ensure design intent is carried through to completion.
- Participate in and lead client meetings, presentations, site visits, project kickoffs, and installation reviews as appropriate.
- Proactively identify potential project challenges, develop solutions, and communicate issues early to keep projects moving forward.
- Maintain organized, accurate, and up-to-date project documentation while ensuring key project details, decisions, and deliverables are clearly communicated.
- Help establish project priorities, timelines, and next steps while managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to associate and junior designers, helping strengthen their technical skills, design thinking, and confidence.
- Contribute to the development of design standards, processes, resources, and best practices that improve the consistency and efficiency of the design team.
- Stay current with trends, products, materials, workplace strategies, and emerging ideas in commercial interior design and bring relevant inspiration and knowledge to the team and our clients. What We're Looking For in a Senior Interior Designer
- Brings significant commercial interior design experience and the confidence to independently lead projects and make informed design decisions.
- Demonstrates strong design judgment and the ability to balance creativity with functionality, budget, timelines, and real-world project constraints.
- Build trust with clients and project partners through professionalism, responsiveness, expertise, and follow-through.
- Communicates clearly and confidently, with the ability to listen, ask thoughtful questions, present ideas, and navigate challenging conversations when needed.

- Brings a collaborative mindset and understands that the strongest projects come from bringing together different perspectives, expertise, and ideas.

Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in interior design with 7+ years of experience.
- Proven track record in leading successful commercial design projects
- Expert knowledge of commercial furniture systems and workplace strategies
- Strong leadership and client relationship management skills
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, CET)
