Job Description

Tera Janelle Design is hiring! We are seeking a talented, motivated Design Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced residential interior design studio. We're looking for someone who sees what needs doing and jumps in, notices all the details, loves a well-designed process, and is just as excited about the technical side of design as the creative. This is a hands-on internship with exposure to the full design process and behind the scenes working of an interior design studio—from CAD drawings, 3D modeling, and material selections to client presentations, construction sites, trades, sourcing, and installations. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp is required. We're looking for a current interior design student, recent graduate, or emerging designer who already has a strong technical foundation and is ready to build upon it in a professional studio environment.

Internship Program:
Schedule:
18-20 hours per week during studio hours (Monday-Thursday, 9 AM - 4 PM)
Duration:
Six months
Location:
On-site at our Lynchburg, Virginia studio
Pay:
Internship is a paid position
Qualifications:
Senior or graduate-level student pursuing Interior Design or Architecture, or emerging designer with a strong technical foundation Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp Exceptional attention to detail, initiative, organization, and willingness to jump in where needed Interest in both the technical and creative sides of residential interior design
Intern Role:
Interns receive hands-on experience in all aspects of a residential interior design studio, including: Building proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite Developing detailed construction drawings, including floor plans, interior elevations, custom cabinetry, and millwork Creating SketchUp models and photorealistic renderings Assisting with project management, including budgeting, procurement tracking, scheduling, and receiving Participating in design installations and final styling for professional photography Supporting furnishings selections and presentation development Organizing and maintaining the studio's materials and sample library Contributing to marketing initiatives and the day-to-day operations of the studio
