Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide essential communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a dynamic school setting. This full-time, onsite role offers 37.5 hours per week, delivering ASL interpreting services that bridge communication and promote an inclusive educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret American Sign Language (ASL) to facilitate communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and their peers, teachers, and school staff. Ensure accurate and effective interpreting in various educational settings within the school. Collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance student learning and participation. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards in all communications.
Qualifications and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must hold a current license or permit issued by the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators (ALBIT). Previous experience interpreting in educational environments is highly valued. Strong proficiency in ASL and excellent communication skills. Commitment to supporting students' educational success and inclusion.

This role is based onsite in Athens, Alabama, working within a school environment.
