Desired Experience & Qualifications:

Current certification or credentialing as a Sign Language Interpreter Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly K-12, is highly desirable Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to diverse communication needs Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa in various classroom and school activities Support students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring equal access to the curriculum and school life Collaborate with teachers and Special Education staff to provide clear, effective communication Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed, offering input and gathering relevant details to support student success Stay up-to-date with best practices in educational interpreting
