Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in a school environment Familiarity with educational terminology and adapting communication styles for diverse student needs Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with educators, students, and families State and/or national certification in sign language interpretation (RID/NIC or equivalent), or eligibility to obtain

Primary Responsibilities:

Interpret spoken language to ASL, and vice versa, in classroom and school-related activities Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and support staff Accurately convey lesson content, classroom discussions, and any school communications Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities Uphold confidentiality standards and maintain accurate records as required
