Key Qualifications:

Proven experience in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter National or state interpreter certification (such as RID, EIPA, or equivalent) highly preferred Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with Pidgin Signed English (PSE) or other variations as appropriate Ability to adapt interpretation style and vocabulary to meet student-specific needs Collaborative mindset with a commitment to student success and accessibility Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities:

Deliver accurate and clear interpretation between ASL and spoken English for students, teachers, and school staff Facilitate classroom learning and participation by ensuring equal access to curriculum content Support students' social and academic interaction during various school activities Prepare for specialized vocabulary as needed based on class subject matter Work closely with educational teams to support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and learning objectives Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development as appropriate
