9670884-92234 Job Description Make a meaningful impact supporting students by taking on a contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter in K-12 educational settings. There are immediate, full-time positions available: one for an elementary level and one for a high school, each offering the chance to work closely with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) programs. This role is ideal for professionals skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) and passionate about fostering inclusive environments where every student can thrive.
Key Qualifications:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills Previous experience interpreting in educational environments, especially with DHH students, is highly valued Ability to adapt signing level and approach for elementary or high school-aged students Understanding of IEP processes and educational terminology preferred Professional certification or state licensure as required Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills Commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting practices
Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpretation for students, teachers, and other staff throughout the school day Facilitate effective communication in classrooms, assemblies, and meetings Support students engagement and participation in all aspects of their educational experience Collaborate with general and special education staff to coordinate services Contribute insight to planning sessions and assist with documentation as needed Foster a welcoming, accessible environment for DHH learners This is a full-time assignment (35 hours per week) with an immediate start, perfect for those seeking a hands-on, rewarding role within elementary or high school DHH classrooms.
